On the road to Algarve came to my mind the memory of my first wall painting. I was in the 5th or 6th grade, and a school competition made our arts teacher to introduce the challenge to the class. The plan was to paint the big yard side wall of the school, and only one creation by class would be selected. My twin sister always won all the artistic challenges, and I was always the second.. well, I think my teachers gave me the chance to have a wall as a reward for all my effort for staying in the second place everytime! She was better, I knew! But I honestly didn´t mind, and I never been competitive with her.
I illustrated a colorful ocean representation with fishes and waves, in a geometric way, with a kind of cubist influences. The Fibonacci spirals that made to remind the sea shells, the geometrical flat fishes. The green pallet that I chose to paint the algae drawn in "free hand" in an organic representation, was in the middle of the geometric elements painted in warm colors - oranges, yellows, reds. I remember I was very proud of the wall what last in school during all my journey there, and I always could say - "thats my wall!".
Its a pitty I cant find a picture of it online... It was in another era...
And I would never say it would be my work now.. I guess we came to this beautiful blue planet with all the "tools" we will need to become what we meant to be, and while kids we will always show a predisposition to do something in particular.. what was yours? :)
